74-year-old charged after fleeing from police

A 74-year-old from Temiscaming is facing charges after the OPP says officers closed a section of HWY 17 and deployed a tire deflation device on Tuesday.
Police say officers responded to numerous calls reporting erratic and dangerous driving on HWY 63 around 10:30 a.m., with callers reporting the vehicle had no rear window or licence plate, with more calls later coming in saying the vehicle was all over the road and speeding.
The OPP says officers tried to stop the vehicle on the HWY 11/17 Bypass in North Bay, with the driver failing to stop and continuing at a high rate of speed, cutting vehicles off and entering oncoming traffic lanes.
Nipissing West OPP stopped the vehicle east of Sturgeon Falls.
The 74-year-old was charged with:
- Dangerous Operation
- Flight from Peace Officer
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
