Amelia Rising receiving donation from Airbnb
Airbnb is donating more than $660,000 to six organizations, including one locally, to combat abuse and exploitation.
Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre of Nipissing is receiving funding.
“This support from Airbnb will help Amelia Rising expand our vital counselling, prevention, and advocacy services for survivors and the community,” says Daniella Northrup, Executive Director. “This donation will strengthen our capacity to provide free, trauma-informed care and education aimed at ending sexual and gender-based violence.”
Michael S. Kerzner, Solicitor General of Ontario, says the investment will provide meaningful support to frontline organizations helping survivors of human trafficking and other vulnerable individuals across Ontario.
“By strengthening community-based services such as safe housing and trauma informed care, this contribution will help more people access the safety, stability, and support they deserve,” says Kerzner.
Officials say the donations are part of the Airbnb Community Fund, which has invested approximately $2 million in more than two-dozen Canadian organizations since its inception.
