Applications Open for Enhancing Access to Spaces

Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced the Ontario government is investing $2.2 million to help protect and strengthen access to inclusive spaces for all Ontarians. Applications are now open for the Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone (EASE) Grant, which awards up to $60,000 for projects that improve accessibility and support active lifestyles for people with disabilities and older adults.

“Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone Grants will provide municipalities, non-profit organizations and Indigenous governing bodies funding for capital projects and retrofits that assist older adults and people with disabilities to participate in community life,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “This funding supports individuals in our communities to live more active, healthy, safe and socially connected lives.”

Some examples of eligible projects for the EASE Grant program include mobility-mats at beaches, charging stations for mobility devices along an accessible trail, adding lights, benches and/or ramps to a public trail, accessible outdoor fitness equipment, adding additional accessibility features at swimming pools, permanent entrance ramps, and expanded tactile directional indicators. They will prioritize projects that go above and beyond the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and/or the Ontario Building Code.

To support interested applicants for the EASE Grant, the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility will be hosting four webinars during the application window to provide program information and guidance on completing and submitting the application form.
