Barbara Craig

Barbara Craig

It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our mother Barbara Ann Craig (nee Hepburn) in North Bay, Ontario on Wednesday March 25, 2026. She was in her 99th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth (Ken) Craig, and the loving and devoted mother to Don (Lana), Brian (Maria), Norm (Renee predeceased), Bruce (Diane), and Margaret Ann (Adrian Barre). She is survived by her children, her sister Isabel Fisher, her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews and families.

Barb was predeceased by Ken in 2010, her loving husband of 62 years, her parents Fred Hughes Hepburn and Alma Margaret Hepburn (nee Harton), and her sister Freda Graham.

Barb was born in South Porcupine, Ontario on March 7, 1928. She resided there until her mother passed in 1942 when she was 14. Following her mother’s death she lived with extended family in Toronto until 1947 and graduated secondary school at Northern Collegiate. She moved to North Bay in 1947.

Barb married Ken Craig at Trinity United Church in North Bay in 1948. Together they raised a family of five children at their home on Trout Lake Road, a home they built in 1952, less than a block from Wesleyan Methodist Church and Laurentian Public School. Barb resided in that home for 72 years. Barb and Ken were an integral part of their community, which included their neighborhood in the Trout Lake Road area, the congregations of Trinity United Church and Wesleyan Methodist Church, the various schools and sports organizations attended by their children, and the workforce of the Canadian Pacific Railroad where Ken worked for 40 years.

Barb was a church going woman of faith. She was a dedicated homemaker whose life revolved around her home and her children, and later her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was happiest at family gatherings surrounded by those she loved the most, always supportive and fiercely loyal.

Barb’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

As per Barb’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving family & friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd, on Thursday June 4th from 1 until 3pm. A celebration of her life will follow at 3pm.
