Carol Freyer

Carol Freyer

It is with deep sorrow that Carol Freyer peacefully passed away with family by her side on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the age of 69. Carol was a loving mother, spouse, grandma, sister, aunt, and a beautiful friend with a vibrant spirit. She had an uncanny ability to light up a room with her great sense of humour, infectious smile and laugh. Her warm and caring ways made you feel  her unwavering love as she always wanted to help others. She was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed by everyone, especially her devoted and beloved children Michael (Vanessa), Steven (Lucy), and Kristin.

Carol met Mike Freyer in 1973. She was a loving wife, together raising 3 children, continuing their friendship after going their separate ways, staying connected as friends and as a family. She cherished a special bond years later for Mike “Newman” as her forever “Always 6”, holding a love in her heart for all 5 of his children; Kirha (Shawn), Lauren (Jim), Daina (Jeff), Taylar (Sloan), and Braedan (Bri).

Carol loved nothing more than to be a grandma. She had a profound impact on all of her grandchildren as she showed them unconditional love, always being their biggest cheerleader. She loved to have them for sleepovers always making sure they had all their favourite treats. She will be missed immensely by Blake, Nolan, Madison, Maverick, Katie, Amely, Ashley, Kayleigh, Kody, Kaidon, Legend, Westin, Kameron, Averie, Jeremy, Serenity, and great-grandkids Keon and Kayson. Carol meant the world to all of her sisters and brothers Ross (Dorle), Wendy (Mel), Earl (Angie), Pam and her son Jonathan, Eric (Carolyn), Garnet (Michelle), Deborah, and her birth mom Ruth (Raymond). She was known as the fun crazy aunt Carol to all her nieces and nephews.

She shared many special friendships throughout her life. To name a few, Sharron Charlton and her daughter Rhia who came to be with the family the day before and day of Carol’s passing. A special thank you to them both for being here for us all. Carol’s friendship with Susan McConnell continued to grow each year, and her love for Tina Marie and her son Brandon Boyd will always hold a special place in her heart. They became family and always will be. Long-time friend Debbie Jamison (Auntie Deb), a loyal loving friend to Liz Larochelle, Vicki D’Agostino and Marc St. Germain who is the father of Madison and Maverick. She will rest in peace “living the dream” with her parents Leonard and Margaret Vickers, as well as many loved ones who have passed before her. Her spirit and love will forever live on surrounding her family and friends who miss her dearly.

Carol was most passionate about her family and spent her whole life devoted to being the best mother she could be. She made every special occasion “extra special” with her thoughtfulness, remembering all of our favourite things to make it memorable each year. She loved to cook, bake, clean, and spent hours planning everything so it could be perfect. She felt a lot of joy in seeing her family happy and spent hours talking on the phone with us, always offering her words of wisdom, giving the best advice.

Throughout her career and life, she helped guide and support many walks of life, always without judgement, leaving them with a smile. She enjoyed gardening, spending time outside fishing off our dock on the south shore of Lake Nipissing, and playing games with her family (Euchre and Aggravation were her two favourites). Carol loved yard sales, bingo, scratch tickets, singing, and dancing. Carol was very creative always working on a special project, usually to give to someone she loved.  Carol was an avid hockey fan and loved the Toronto Maple Leafs. Her love for hockey began at a young age when her father Len used to take her to the Maple Leaf Gardens and then afterwards they would go to Fran’s Restaurant close by for cinnamon toast and hot chocolate where they would run into players Johnny Bower and Frank Maholvich. She was also a very supportive “hockey mom” to her son Steven growing up, always cheering him on. The whole family enjoyed watching hockey together and it became a big part of Carol’s life that she absolutely loved. She wouldn’t miss watching a game, cheering loud and proud “Go Leafs Go!”.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date next summer on the lake, where Carol felt most at home and at peace.

Carol had a strong faith and has continued to show signs daily in spirit that she will always be around as a guiding light of unconditional love.
