Chewie with the Trauma Support K9

Chewie with the Trauma Support K9 program will soon be calling it a career.

The North Bay Police Service says after eight years of service, Chewie is retiring this spring.

He provides comfort to victims of crime and tragedy in the Nipissing region, while also supporting Emergency Services personnel.

Officials say Chewie, a yellow Labrador Retriever, was generously donated and trained by the Citadel Canine Society and is partnered with a certified K9 Handler/Trainer.

While officials say some of Chewie’s most meaningful moments are not ones that can be shared publicly, they will share what they can over the coming weeks, including photos, memories and reflections from his journey.
