Christopher Stephen Ferris

1951-2025

Our family is deeply saddened to share that after a difficult struggle with cancer, our beloved brother Christopher Stephen Ferris departed the physical world on July 7, 2025, to begin his journey to a new realm where he may be blessed with peace, fulfillment and connection with loved ones who have gone before him.

Chris is survived by his older and younger brothers Peter and Patrick (Mireille), his big sister Lynne Ferris-Holmes (Harwood), his nephews Peter, Jonathan, Jason and Matthew and his nieces Stephanie and Chantal. He is also survived by great nephews Tyler, Tristan, Ben and Neo, great nieces Brianna, Olivia, and Nicole. Other survivors are his great great niece Mckenzie and great great nephews Bradley and Oliver. Chris was predeceased by his father Lloyd Robert Ferris (1993), his mother Julie Etta Ferris nee Hill (2006), and his sisters Stephanie (1985) and Patricia Ann (1945).

We will remember Chris as a quiet, reflective and somewhat reclusive individual who enjoyed sports, especially football and hockey. He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens! If one characteristic defined Chris, it was his love of animals. Following his heart, he worked for many years with the North Bay Humane Society.

It is hard to find the words to say goodbye brother. Wherever your spirit now resides, know that you are loved and will be remembered.

Our family is deeply grateful for the compassion and care provided to Chris by Dr Cowen, Dr Jinna, Dr Blake and by oncologists Drs Linford and Sanghera of the Sudbury Cancer Centre. A special heartfelt gratitude is owed to the nursing staff, personal support workers and other caregivers at the North Bay Health Centre (both the main hospital and the Cartier Site) and at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice. The level of compassion and caring demonstrated by these individuals is awe inspiring.

In memory of Chris, donations to the North Bay Humane Society or the Nipissing Serenity Hospice will be greatly appreciated.

A graveside service will be held at St Mary’s Cemetery on Saturday, July 19th at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at 4:30 pm in Chris’ honor at Average Joes Restaurant on Trout Lake Road, North Bay.

Goodbye brother and journey well.
