Clairette Cousineau

Clairette Cousineau

Tribute to Mom

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Clairette Cousineau (née Bisson), passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2025, at the age of 91.

Clairette was the heart of our home and family. She raised nine children, Leo (Rachelle) Robert (Nancy), Gerald (Claire), Cecile (Ian Robertson), Liane (Robert Leblanc), Gilbert (Carole), Marie-Anne (Dan Bradford), Mireille (Jim Mitchell), Alain (Nathalie), in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. Clairette was married for 42 years to her soulmate, Jean-Paul, who preceded her in death. As a grandmother to 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, she was the "fun grandma," taking the kids on exciting outings, hosting "grandma’s cottage" every summer, and generally spoiling them rotten.

Her love of children was also recognized with years of volunteer work with the Children’s Aid Society and other organizations and of course providing entertainment at senior’s home, in her words “pour les p’tits vieux”.

Clairette was known for her musical flare and kind heart. In the early years she led her own band “Clairette & The Silver Stars” and later collaborating with her sisters to form the very popular “Bisson Sisters”, a mainstay of the local music scene for 33 years. To say that Mom had a musical talent is an understatement, in addition to being an accomplished singer and songwriter, she could also play nine different musical instruments.

Clairette’s versatility also extended to business.  She earned business certificates while running Cousineau Shell gas station with Dad in Verner all while raising a large young family. She also went on to launch a very successful boutique – “Mon Dream Bridal" in North Bay.

But family was always her priority.   Among many other events, she also created with her sister-in-law Jeanine Ippersiel, the annual Cousineau Family Reunion that still endures decades later.

Nine White Roses for you Mom and all the love and admiration of your family, friends and all the people who will miss you dearly.
