Connecting Canadore students with future employers
Canadore College is strengthening its commitment to preparing people for meaningful careers through its new Employment Solutions service, an initiative designed to connect graduates, alumni, and the broader community directly with employers. The service hosted its first job fair, bringing together job seekers, employers, and community organizations to support workforce development and employment opportunities.
More than 35 employers participated in the event, engaging directly with attendees to discuss available positions and the skills required to succeed in today’s labour market.
“This is an opportunity for me to be ahead of my peers when it’s time for me to work,” said Deborah Donko, a Personal Support Worker student who will graduate this spring.
“Our team truly cares about helping job seekers find opportunities that align with their goals,” said Andrea Jones-Pascoe, Manager, Canadore Employment Solutions. “We provide practical, personalized support—from resume and interview guidance to training opportunities and direct connections with local employers. We’re here to ensure no one has to navigate their career journey alone.”
A unique feature of the job fair was the participation of more than 20 volunteer organizations, highlighting the connection between employment and volunteer experience.
“Employment and volunteerism go hand in hand,” said Trina St. Jacques, Employer Relations Co-ordinator. “Volunteer experience strengthens a resume, and having these organizations at the job fair helps people learn about opportunities to build skills and gain experience.”
As an Ontario Employment Services Provider, Canadore Employment Solutions supports both job seekers and employers while aligning with Ontario’s vision for a modern, innovative employment services system.
Through personalized guidance and enhanced access to employment opportunities, the service helps individuals build sustainable, long-term careers. It also supports employers by assisting with the recruitment of qualified candidates and streamlining the hiring process. Additional services include a user-friendly job portal and financial supports designed to reduce hiring costs and advance talent development.
