Councillor Mac Bain

The City of North Bay is saddened by the passing of Councillor Mac Bain, who served on City Council for 23 years. Mac was a strong advocate for North Bay and Northern Ontario.

Through his work with the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities, he also represented the interests of communities across the region. Mayor Peter Chirico knew Mac for many years and served alongside him on Council.

“Mac knew municipal government inside and out and had a real love for North Bay. He had a great sense of humour and knew how to carry himself as a politician, treating people with respect and always keeping things in perspective," said Mayor Chirico. "I knew Mac for many years, and we first served together on Council when we were both newly elected.

I always valued his knowledge and advice and appreciated his good nature and the way he looked out for our community.

He will be missed.”The City extends its condolences to Mac’s family, friends, and colleagues.
