Crews working to restore hydro-in the area

By Richard Coffin

Some people around the area are still without power after Saturday’s storm.

That includes over 500 Hydro One customers in the Mattawa area and upwards of 160 in the Bonfield area.

Another 230 customers are impacted by an outage from Redbridge to Thorne with a few outages in the Callander and Nipissing area too.

Restoration times vary with updates on Hydro One’s outage map.

Meantime, Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord says école Lorrain in Bonfield, will be closed all day Monday (June 23), including the childcare service.

It’s due to the state of emergency after Saturday’s storm.

The board says situation will be reassessed in the afternoon, and parents will be advised if the school will be open or closed on Tuesday, June 24.

Officials add with Highway 17 back open, both of its schools in Mattawa (école Sainte-Anne and école Élisabeth-Bruyère) are open Monday, including childcare service.
