Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant

Members of the North Bay Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant on March 25 at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a residence in the Carruthers Street area

The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) has arrested three individuals and seized more than $15,000 in illicit drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine, as part of a Street Crime Unit (SCU) investigation.

As part of the NBPS SCU investigation, members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant on March 25 at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a residence in the Carruthers Street area. Upon arrival, the accused, Alveranga, attempted to flee but was arrested without incident. At the same time, NBPS officers arrested two co-accused, Gauthier and Fichault, at a retailer in the 1800 block of the Algonquin Avenue area.

The accused, Tyree Alveranga, 22-year-old, male, of, Pennsylvania, USA, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Crack Cocaine)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The co-accused, Kaley Gauthier, 42-year-old, female, of, North Bay, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Crack Cocaine)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The second co-accused, Daniel Fichault, 42-year-old, male, of, North Bay, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Crack Cocaine)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Subsequent search led to the seizure of the following items:

  • Controlled substances with an estimated street value of over $15,000 including:
    • 35 grams Fentanyl
    • 8 grams of Cocaine
    • 70 grams of Crack Cocaine
  • $23,222 Canadian currency

"This operation was a success thanks to the professional skill, careful planning, and teamwork of our members," said Insp. McFarlane. "By intercepting the source of these drugs entering our community, we are disrupting the flow of dangerous substances into the city."

The three accused were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
