Gas tax funding supporting transit in North Bay
The City of North Bay is once again receiving $785,000 from the province’s gas tax program for transit.
It’s the third year in a row the city has received that amount.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced the funding can be used for local public transit initiatives such as expanding service hours, increasing routes, purchasing new vehicles, and improving accessibility to increase transit ridership.
“People across the City of North Bay deserve access to reliable transit services that get them where they need to go quickly and safely,” say Fedeli. “The funding we’re announcing today is good news for people and transit users in North Bay as our government continues to protect Ontario by making historic investments in public transit.”
Mayor Peter Chirico says they’re grateful for the funding.
“Provincial Gas Tax funding gives the city steady, reliable support each year to upgrade buses and maintain the transit infrastructure people use every day,” he says.
Across Ontario, the 2025-26 Gas Tax program is providing nearly $380 million to support public transit in 107 municipalities.
