House destroyed by fire on Sylvan Crescent
One person was taken to hospital, treated and released after North Bay Fire and Emergency Services were called to a house fire on Sylvan Crescent Thursday morning.

That from Deputy Fire Chief Greg Saunders, who says the call came in around 8:45 am.
“Crews were met with heavy fire conditions and thick black smoke that could be seen from kilometers away,” says Saunders. “All residents were alerted by the sounding fire alarms and were able to successfully leave the residence, proceeded to call 911 and alert the neighbors of the rowhouse who evacuated safely with their pets.”
He says there fire unit is destroyed, however the quick action by fire crews limited the damage to the adjacent units.
The cause is under investigation but not deemed suspicious.
Fire officials earlier said the residents had been cooking with an air fryer when it caught on fire.
Lake Heights Rd. was closed while crews are on scene.
