LMG reports ‘significant expansion’ in summer hiring activity
Job postings ballooned nearly 27% in Nipissing District in June.
The Labour Market Group (LMG) says there were 731 job postings that month, up over 150 compared to May.
Officials add it was the strongest month of 2026 so far.
“This volume sits 25.1% above the previous four-year June average (585) and 59.3% higher than June 2025 (+272), marking a significant expansion in summer hiring activity,” states the LMG June Jobs Report.
Employer participation was also up, by just over 16%, with 296 unique employers active in the market.
LMG says that indicates broad-based hiring across the district.
The top hiring employer was the North Bay Regional Health Centre with 78 postings.
Home Depot was a distant second with 22 postings.
Canadore College, the Near North District School Board and Nipissing University round out the top five.
