Mark William Nicholson
April 12, 1960-February 21, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mark William Nicholson, who left us on February 21, 2026, at the age of 65.
Mark was predeceased by his father, Marvin William Nicholson, and his mother, Winnifred Isabelle Nicholson, and is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and the love of his life, Mary Katherine Nicholson; his cherished daughter, Dawn Marie Nicholson; and his beloved son, Mark William (Bill) Nicholson.
His family was his world, and everything he did was rooted in his deep love and commitment to them.
Mark had a big personality that could light up any room. He was strong, passionate, and full of life — the kind of man whose laughter was contagious and whose presence was impossible to ignore. He brought energy, humour, and heart into every gathering, and he made the people around him feel deeply loved.
He found joy in life’s simple but meaningful moments — cooking meals that brought everyone to the table, tending to his garden with care and pride, and creating a home filled with warmth and comfort. For Mark, taking care of his family wasn’t just something he did; it was who he was.
Mark also loved golf and treasured the time he spent on the course. He attended men’s night at the golf course, where he enjoyed camaraderie, laughter, and friendly competition. He and Kathy also looked forward to their annual trips to Florida with friends, where days were spent golfing, relaxing, and making lasting memories together.
On December 21, 2017, Mark underwent a double lung transplant, a journey that reflected his incredible strength and resilience. Through every challenge, he faced life with courage and gratitude, cherishing the extra time he was given and making the most of every moment with the people he loved.
He also shared a special bond with his loyal dog, Bulvye, who was more than a pet — he was a companion and a source of comfort. Whether sitting quietly at home or enjoying the outdoors, Bulvye was faithfully by Mark’s side.
Mark leaves behind a space that can never truly be filled, but his love, his lessons, and his larger-than-life spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2026, where family and friends will gather to honour, remember, and share stories of the man who meant so much to so many.
