Maunsell, Peter

(1936-2025)

 Passed away peacefully at Water’s Edge Care Community on Tuesday July 1st, 2025 at the age of 89.

 He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Arlene (nee Gilson). Dear father of Kathy, Michael (Lois), Jim (Janice), Bob (Claudette), Tony (Annette), Elizabeth (Greg Kirke) and Chris (Michelle). He will be fondly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Peter is predeceased by his Parents and sister Betty Janssen and he reunites with his great grandson Paul Michael.

 Peter was born in Calgary Alberta, High school was spent at St Mary's during these years he met the love of his life when he was 14 yrs old, Margaret Arlene Gilson and they never looked back. Peter and Arlene were married in Calgary on May 11th 1957. At the time of their wedding Peter had just started his career in the Royal Canadian Airforce as a Navigator, he loved to fly in CF-100 Clunks CF-101 Voodoo and later in the Falcon as an Electronic warfare officer.  His career spanned 33 years ending in North Bay with 414 Black Knight Squadron. Religion was always a part of Peter's life and he and Arlene journied together in the Ministries program at Espanola under Bishop Carter culminating in the Ordination as a Permanent Deacon for Peter and Mandated as a Diocesan Order of Women for Arlene in 1986. They used their Ministries together for many years at St Peter the Apostle Church. Pastoral care was a big Part of Peter's ministry, which he used for 10 plus years in employment and volunteering with the hospitals in North Bay. Peter was also a founding member of the Critical Incident Stress Team in North Bay.

 Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd on Monday July 7th from 2 until 4pm and 6 until 8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 8th, 2025  at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption at 10am.

 In lieu of flowers, donations to Near North Palliative Care Network will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
