Mike Purdon
July 4, 1956 - June 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother Mike following a short battle with cancer at age 68, two weeks before his 69th birthday. Mike passed peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was the much-loved brother, uncle and friend to many.
Survived by his sisters Nancy Purdon-Francis (Mark), Mona Schulz (Marv), and Carol Wood (late Bob), loving uncle to Matthew Francis (Candace), Scott Francis (Lisa), Jonathan Schulz (Kristina), Erin Plourde (Micah), and Sean Villeneuve.
Pre-deceased by his parents Des and Mary-Jane Purdon.
Mike was born and grew up in North Bay, later re-locating to Sudbury.
Mike’s life revolved around wheels: cars, trucks and motorcycles. His greatest joy was being on the open road on his Harley-Davidson. He had a lengthy career driving transport, again giving him the opportunity to be on the road.
He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends. Mike often said that a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met.
He was known for his sense of humour, quick wit, endless supply of jokes, and his genuine willingness to always lend a helping hand.
To quote Mike, “Had a good go, fought the good fight, no regrets.”
Mike lived life on his terms, right up until the end.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Danielle Nelson and her team for their kindness and compassion.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
There will be a celebration of Mike’s life on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre, 700 Lakeshore Drive, North Bay Ontario from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
