Mining technical support and service centre opens in North Bay
You can add another company to the mining supply and services sector in North Bay.

Axis Mining Technology, which delivers advanced surveying and geological data management solutions for the mining and mineral exploration industry, has set up shop at 955 Stockdale Road.
“It’s a brand new office in North Bay,” says Marty Wanner, Global Operations Excellence Manager. “Our presence has been remote workers in the North Bay region, technical support people, supporting our customers around the Northern Ontario and Northern Quebec region.”

He says they do survey tooling for exploration drillers.
”Our tools basically go ‘down hole’ as the exploration drillers are drilling,” says Wanner. “It’s a compass pointing in the direction, so it’s directional tools for exploration drilling, diamond core drilling primarily.”
Wanner adds they have three employees but that could double in the next year.
“North Bay is recognized globally as a centre of excellence for mining and mineral exploration innovation and technology,” he says. “Establishing a facility here allows us to better serve our customers across Northern Ontario and beyond while strengthening our partnerships within one of Canada’s most important mining regions.”
The company says the expansion reflects the continued growth of the mining technology sector in Northern Ontario and reinforces Axis Mining Technology’s commitment to supporting the region’s mining and exploration industry.
An official opening of the new Regional Technical Support & Service Centre was held Friday with industry leaders, government officials, community partners, and members of the mining and exploration sector celebrating the occasion.
The city’s website says North Bay is home to more than 60 mining supply and service companies.
