MINOR (née Vahey), Sandra Marie Jessie
With heavy hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of Sandra, with loved ones by her side at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 81. Sandy is now reunited with her beloved partner and best friend, Larry St. Pierre, whose love and companionship meant the world to her.
Sandra was a devoted and loving mother to Debbie Bain (Mac) of North Bay, Jeff Minor of Vancouver, Sharon Minor of Toronto, and Lynn Minor of North Bay, and a caring stepmother to Nancy Cornes of Brampton. Her family was the centre of her life and her proudest accomplishment. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren, Tegan (Alex) and Keri, and her cherished great-grandchildren Malikia, Taiya, Mia, Hudson, Hadley, Callum, and Nevaeh, each of whom brought her immense joy. She was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Jamie, who remained forever close to her heart.
Sandra will be fondly remembered by her siblings, Doreen Backer (Harry), Eva Janveau, and Victor Souliere (Alice). She was predeceased by her brother Roy and by her parents, Danny Vahey and Evelyn Vahey-Souliere.
For more than twenty years, Sandra and Larry shared a peaceful life together in Corbeil, where the quiet beauty of Big Moose Road suited her perfectly. She loved nature, treasured time spent with family, and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, good conversations, laughter around the table, and the comfort of being surrounded by those she loved. Sandra also expressed her love through baking and was well known among family and friends for her delicious carrot cake and famous butter tarts, always made with care and meant to be shared.
Sandy had a special place in her heart for animals and was known for loving and spoiling every pet she met, especially Roach, Abby, and Gypsy, who brought her endless companionship and joy. With a gentle spirit, warm heart, and quiet strength, she made everyone, both people and animals alike, felt welcome and cared for. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday, April 10, from 11:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment of ashes at the All Saints’ Mausoleum.
In memory of Sandra, donations to the North Bay Humane Society would be gratefully accepted as an expression of sympathy.
