More than a dozen charges filed after OPP spot expired vehicle permit
The North Bay OPP says discovering an expired vehicle permit led to a slew of charges for a 43-year-old Bonfield resident, along with suspected drugs and cash being seized and stolen property recovered.
Ontario Provincial Police say on July 23, a traffic stop was conducted on Riverbend Road near Lakeshore in North Bay after their automated systems identified the expired permit.
They say signs of impairment led to an arrest and search of the vehicle, with suspected crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, MDMA, Percocet tablets, and nearly $800 in Canadian cash confiscated.
Several tools and equipment that the investigation later identified as stolen in a recent break-in were also returned to their owner.
The accused has a Sept. 1 court appearance in North Bay.
Police say the driver also received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
