Murder charges laid after Feb. homicide
Four people are facing charges after a city police homicide investigation that led to the area of Mulligan St., following a missing person report last month.
Two city residents, including a 50-year-old woman and 19-year-old man are facing several charges including first degree murder and indignity to a dead body.
A 63-year-old man from Sarnia and a 57-year-old man from Mattawa both face charges of abetting to commit first degree murder along with counselling to commit indignity to a dead body.
“The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) would like to extend our condolences to the family of the victim and those affected by this criminal act,” says Inspector Scott McFarlane of the NBPS Criminal Investigations Section. “This incident began as a missing person investigation and later led to the charges that are now before the courts. The alleged criminal acts committed during this incident are reflected in the seriousness of the charges laid. Investigators believe the incident was targeted and that the victim and some of the individuals involved, were known to each other. The NBPS does not believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety.”
The four accused were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
North Bay Police are thanking their policing partners with the Ontario Provincial Police as well as the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Section for their assistance in this investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
