New Sports Academy at Canadore College

The new Panthers High-Performance Sports Academy is designed for dedicated athletes looking to enhance their physical performance through expert-led strength and conditioning programs. The first Summer Academy Program is now underway and there are still spots available.
“The purpose of the Academy is to improve physical capabilities of local athletes aiming to compete at the highest level they can achieve,” said Caleb Mady, Professor in the School of Sport and Recreation.
Mady brings nearly a decade of expertise in enhancing the physical performance of high-performing athletes. With credentials that include a Master of Science in Kinesiology, Mady is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS), Functional Range Strength Coach (FRSC), and he specializes in improving athletic potential.
The Summer Academy program will run through Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Canadore Panthers’ Sports Complex, affectionately known as “The Dome”. The new facility is state of the art in terms of location and training surfaces.
“The Summer Academy offers strength training, field-based speed, agility, and reaction training, sled work and plyometrics as well as functional range conditioning,” said Mady.
“The athletes must be committed to showing up and improving every day,” said Graham Loyst, Sports Facility Supervisor. “It is 5 days a week, so the level of commitment is high.”
Additional programing geared towards different ages and skills levels will be added to the Academy in 2025-2026. Participants must be born in 2010 or earlier for this year’s program.
