Nine Fringe shows and more lined up this week
The ON THE EDGE Fringe Festival returns this week.
It’s the 13th event, with shows covering several genres including theatre, comedy, dance, music, and spoken word/storytelling.
From Aug. 12-16, there are nine Fringe shows, six Duality presentations, as well as other arts events and activities throughout the week at the Capitol Centre.
A mix of local and out-of-town artists are involved.
There’s also a special night of presentations Tuesday at Aanmitaagzi Story Makers’ Big Medicine Studio on Couchie Memorial Drive.
Other events during the festival include a grant information session, a musical theatre workshop, and a pop-up speakers’ corner.
The festival is also partnering with a handful of downtown restaurants for their second annual “Fringe Fries” competition.
They’ll be created as a special menu item then voted on by the public, with the winning restaurant announced during the annual Fringe awards at the end of the festival.
Participating restaurants include Cecil’s Brewhouse & Kitchen, Northern Himalayan Café, Lou Dawg’s Southern BBQ, The Moose’s Cookhouse, and The Block Public House.
