North Bay Homecoming Festival weekend starts Friday

North Bay Homecoming Festival weekend starts Friday

We’re only hours away from the city’s ‘celebration of the century’.

North Bay’s Homecoming Festival starts Friday and runs through Sunday, marking 100 years since the city received its charter.

Highlights include live and local music and performances, historical exhibits and hands-on exploring, an artisan market, a homecoming corn roast, family-friendly activities, an outdoor movie, and more.

Events are taking place downtown, at the waterfront and at Lee Park.

The opening ceremony with the North Bay Pipes and Drums, town crier and free hotdogs takes place Friday at 5:30 pm, at the Rotary Picnic Shelter.

That’s also the location for Sunday’s free corn roast (5-7 pm).

The Hot Summer Nights music festival is on stage at the Kiwanis Bandshell both Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s concerts run from 7 pm to 9:30 pm while performances on Saturday, including a Bon Jovi tribute band (8:30 pm) take place from 2 pm to 10 pm. Homecoming Festival weekend also features free admission to the North Bay and Dionne Quints’ museums, a kid’s fire fighter combat challenge on Saturday, a two-day car show, a multi-faith service on Sunday afternoon, and more.

The full schedule is posted to the festival’s website.

Officials say the festival provides an opportunity for lifelong locals, newcomers, visitors and others to reconnect, remember, and celebrate.
