NPSC Announces Return of Summer Challenge in 2026
The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) is delighted to announce the return of Summer Challenge in 2026 with the production Alice by Heart, a touching musical inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
About Summer Challenge
Launched in 2003, Summer Challenge is an enrichment arts course offered through NPSC’s Summer School program that provides students with opportunities to develop skills in acting, singing, dance, and production. The program is open to all students in the community currently in Grades 7-12, including those who attend school outside of NPSC. Participants in Grades 8-12 will also have the opportunity to earn at least one academic credit toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
About the Production
The following description is provided by Music Theatre International.
In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.
As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. This world premiere musical encourages us all to celebrate the transformational power of imagination, even in the harshest of times.

· Show Nights: Thursday, July 16; Friday, July 17; and Saturday, July 18, 2026
How to Participate
To participate in a Summer Challenge production, students must attend the Information Night. At this session, they will:
· Learn an audition dance and vocal piece
· Receive details about the course and expectations
· Book an audition time for their desired role

· Supporting actors
· Dancers
· Vocal ensemble members
