NPSC Warmly Welcomes New Indigenous Student Trustee Bronte McLeod

It is with great enthusiasm and pride that the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) welcomes Bronte McLeod as our new Indigenous Student Trustee for the 2025-2027 term. A student of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School (SJSH), Bronte brings with him a strong voice and deep commitment to representing Indigenous students across our Board.

Bronte was selected by his peers this spring through a process established by Mkwa Doodem, the Indigenous Student Advisory Group at SJSH. In his new role, Bronte will serve as a vital advocate for Indigenous students, working closely with fellow trustees, including Student Trustee Joy Akomah, as well as the NPSC Senior Administration team and his schoolmates to ensure Indigenous voices and perspectives continue to be represented at the Board table.

We also take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Cheyney Chevrier, our outgoing Indigenous Student Trustee, whose dedicated service over the past two years has been instrumental in advancing Indigenous student voice and leadership in our Catholic schools. Her thoughtful insights, unwavering dedication, and consistent representation of her peers have left a strong foundation upon which Bronte will continue to build.  We wish her our prayerful best wishes and much continued success in her post-secondary pursuits.

Together, we celebrate this important step in continuing to honour, uplift, and empower Indigenous student voices within our Catholic school community.
