One of the Winners Announced
Congratulations to Nico Anello, one of the winners of the North Bay Municipal Heritage Committee's Centennial Photo Contest.
The 2025 photography contest, Through the Lens of Time: Celebrating 100 Years of Design, highlighted the connection between architecture and the natural elements of air, water, and land.
The City of North Bay would like to thank the continued sponsorship from the North Bay Society of Architects.
Here is what Nico had to say about his winning photo, 'Midnight shows its true colours in North Bay "I chose this image to submit for the contest, as I felt that it is an awesome showcase of North Bay’s true colours, and shows what it’s really like to live in the north".
The photograph includes a Boeing 727 airplane owned by Canadore College. The 727 is a very significant piece of North American history, and Canadore College is very proud to have a live example for students to learn and train on.
Airplanes and airports are a great aspect of architecture, and the 727 is a marvellous piece of aerospace engineering. The Aurora Borealis (northern lights) displayed in the background are one of the wonders of the universe, and are a fascinating aspect of air and space. Under the airplane and the sky, is a snow-filled terrain, showcasing the unique climate we face in the North.
This image truly pulls everything about North Bay together, including our rich aviation history, the beautiful nature around us, and the grounds of a state of the art training facility, which attract hundreds of newcomers to our city each year."
