OPP advise of emergency exercise with the Northlander

By Richard Coffin

An emergency exercise involving the new Northlander passenger train is planned for later this month.

Ontario Province Police say it’s taking place in Temiskaming Shores, on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The OPP says it will give emergency responders the opportunity to practice and evaluate their coordinated response to a simulated emergency involving a passenger train.

“The exercise is intended to strengthen communication, coordination, and emergency response procedures among participating agencies and partners,” states a release.

It’ll take place in the area of the Sunnyside Road railway crossing in Temiskaming Shores.
