Police association award nominations include two local officers
Two area police officers are nominated for Police Association of Ontario Hero of the Year Awards.
For over a decade, people across Ontario have nominated police service members for their bravery, dedication, and community contributions.
Both local officers are nominated for The Extra Mile award, which celebrates acts of extraordinary kindness or bravery while off duty.
Meranda Wood with the North Bay Police Service is nominated for organizing and leading an “Adopt a Senior” gift-giving program during the holidays.
Also nominated is the OPP’s Chris Carmichael.
The person who submitted his name says whenever there’s an event in Mattawa, Carmichael is there putting in long days, engaging with everyone he meets with a smile, and more.
The deadline to submit a nomination on the association’s website is March 6, with the awards to be presented at the end of May.
