Police investigating bikes stolen from local hotels
Two recent overnight incidents of bikes being stolen at local hotels are being investigated by city police.
Officials say vehicle mounted bike rack locks were cut, and the bicycles were stolen.
That has the North Bay Police Service reminding the public to take extra precautions to protect their bicycles from theft
“Bicycles left unattended on vehicle-mounted racks are attractive targets for thieves,” states a release. “Whenever possible, remove your bikes from the rack and store them in a secure location. If you must leave your bike on a rack temporarily, ensure it is secured with a high-quality lock.”
Police suggest visitors to ask the hotel if bicycles are allowed inside your room.
Additional tips to help protect your bicycles:
· Never leave your bicycle unattended on a vehicle overnight
· Use a sturdy U-lock or heavy-duty chain lock to secure your bike
· Record your bicycle serial number and take a current photograph to assist with identification if it is stolen
· Report any suspicious activity involving bicycles or bike racks to local police
