Rahnmet North Bay Panthers 9U baseball team showed off their skills

The Rahnmet North Bay Panthers 9U baseball team showed off their skills in Etobicoke last weekend when they swept the individual awards in the Hit, Run, and Throw skills competition. In between the games of the Lloyd McConnie Memorial 9u Select Tournament, players from 16 teams took part in a skills competition which consisted of players competing for the longest throw, the farthest hit and the fastest time around the basepaths.

Stepping up to the plate was Michael Patreau who crushed a ball 180 feet. Jude Martel launched a ball 160 feet, a throw that went 20 feet further than the next closest competitor. Blaise Prytula touched 'em all, and made it around the bases in 14 seconds to take home the award for fastest runner. It was a clean sweep for the Panthers in the skills competition, and a highlight of the weekend.

The team went 1-3 during their games, running into some well coached and well structured teams. They opened with losses to Martingrove 9U and the Annette A's 9U (a Toronto suburb team). But they rallied to finish the weekend on a high note with a 21-12 victory over the 9U Select Clarington Orioles. Adrian Hosein went 3-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Mason Auger added a pair of hits with two RBIs and Kieran Vlach scored three times and drove in a run. Dallas Monette-Taylor's three run single in the bottom of the third blew the game open for the Panthers.

The Rahnmet North Bay Panthers 9U Baseball team is comprised of: Adrian Hosein, Ben Laframboise, Blaise Prytula, Dallas Monette-Taylor, Elijah McCann, Jacob Wrixon, Jason Pickles Sookram, Jude Martel, Kieran Vlach, Mason Auger, Michael Patreau and William Leggett.

Next up, the Panthers host the Soo Black Sox 9U team for a pair of exhibition games on Saturday at Amelia Park. On Sunday, they host the Orillia Royals 9U squad for a pair of games, also at Amelia Park.
