Ronald Barry "Rev" Hallett

Ronald Barry "Rev" Hallett

May 20, 1940 – June 23, 2025

It is with deep sadness and loving memories that the family of Barry Hallett announces his peaceful passing on June 23, 2025, at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on May 20, 1940, in Montreal, Quebec, Barry was the beloved son of Reverend Robert Bruce Hallett and Lillian Olive Hallett (née English). He was predeceased by his cherished brother, Jeff Hallett.

Barry’s journey took him from Montreal to Owen Sound and finally to North Bay during his teenage years. It was there he met and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara (McLeod). Their enduring 64-year marriage remains the gold standard for devotion and love — a model their children continue to strive toward.

A devoted family man, Barry leaves behind his loving wife Barbara, his children Angela (Stephen), Natalee (Mike), Peter, and David (Charlotte), as well as his grandchildren Kelsey, Joshua Strickland, Emily, and Victoria. He was deeply loved by his sisters and brother-in-law Jane Hallett, Pat Sayer(Ron) and held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews.

Barry was a successful entrepreneur and co-owner of Byron Building Supplies. He also had careers at Kennedy Real Estate, and IAC Financial. His career took him and his family on adventures across Ontario, including Sudbury, New Liskeard, Kirkland Lake, Ajax, and eventually back to North Bay — a journey marked by resilience and togetherness.

Known for his quick wit, practical jokes, and ever-gentle demeanor, Barry faced life with an unwavering positive outlook. He treasured his lifelong friendships, especially those formed during his high school years, and remained a pillar of strength and laughter to everyone who knew him.

Barry's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many friends and relatives who visited him during his hospital and hospice stays — your presence brought comfort and joy to both Barry and Barb.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. In the stories shared and the laughter remembered, Barry’s spirit lives on.

Thank you to the staff at Nipissing Serenity Hospice.

In lieu of flowers it is the family's wish donations be made to Nipissing Serenity Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home.
