Sandbag availability continues in North Bay

Sandbag availability continues in North Bay

By Richard Coffin

Sandbag stations remain available this week due to ongoing flood potential along the Lake Nipissing shoreline.

The city says due to a decrease in demand, staffing at locations at Champlain and Sunset parks is being reduced, though pre-filled sandbags will continue to be available at both sites and supplies will be monitored.

The Public Works yard on Franklin St. will also remain open daily from 9 am to 4 pm as a self-service sandbag filling site.

The city says it continues to monitor lake levels and weather conditions, adding auxiliary pumps at the wastewater treatment plant on Memorial Drive remain on standby if needed.
