Scholarship created for area PSW students
PHARA Community Services has launched a new student scholarship.
Officials say the Supporting Personal Support Workers (PSW) Pathway to Success Scholarship is designed to support the next generation of health care professionals in North Bay and surrounding communities.
It will provide a $500 scholarship to two Ontario students enrolled in a registered Personal Support Worker program in the Nipissing area.

PHARA says the money can be used to help offset post-secondary education expenses, including tuition, textbooks, technology, and more.
“PHARA believes that by investing in the future of PSW students, we can help to make a difference in local health care and in services to our community,” says Mike Van der Vlist, CEO of PHARA Community Services. “We are a non-profit that relies on the amazing skills and dedication that PSW professionals bring to the clients we serve every day of the year. This is our way of fostering the next generation of care providers and hoping to inspire them to serve North Bay and surrounding areas.”
Applications are now being accepted on the PHARA website.
The deadline is May 1.
