Sherry Kathleen (Ann)

Sherry Kathleen (Ann)

August 8, 1937 – August 1, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, the family of Kathleen (Ann) Sherry announces her peaceful passing surrounded by her loving family on August 1, 2025, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Ann faced a sudden illness caused by a hemorrhagic stroke.

Born in Kirkland Lake on August 8, 1937, Ann moved to North Bay in the fall of 1956 to pursue her calling as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After graduating, she went on to serve her community with dedication and compassion, working at the North Bay Hospitals and spending over 30 years as the trusted nurse of Dr. John Griffin. She also lent her gentle care to the Sisters at St. Joseph’s Motherhouse and later worked with Dr. Jim O’Donnell.

Ann had an incredible gift for connecting with people - always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm smile. Her deep faith was a source of strength throughout her life. She was a devoted member the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption and belonged to the Catholic Women’s League.

Ann brought that same energy and love into her community. She played a meaningful role in the West Ferris Ringette Association, and in her younger years enjoyed curling, gardening, and long walks shared with friends. In later years, her greatest joy came from cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events - always their biggest and proudest fan.

She and Frank, her beloved husband of sixty-six years, created a beautiful life together. With their children, “The Sherry’s Five” made countless cherished memories at Mikisew and Champlain Provincial Parks, and later at Seguin’s Beach Campground & Trailer Park. Ann and Frank traveled coast to coast and into the states in their motorhome, savoring the simple pleasures of life and adventure.

Their dream to live on the lake happened when they moved to Sturgeon Falls, building a home on the shores of Lake Nipissing that quickly became the heart of the family - a place filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable gatherings. In 2019, they returned to North Bay.

Ann was the cherished and deeply loved mother of Kelly (Gerry), Kathy (Roman), and Mark (Gina). She was the treasured “Grammie” to Sarah (Nicole), Josh (Carissa), Katie (Nathan), Bree (Holly), Corey (Zana), Max (Max), Sami (Cole), Steven (Claire), and Alex (Ayden), and the adored “Great Grammie” to Copelan, Levi, Kinsale, Andi, and Bodie. Her family was her world, and her love for them was limitless.

Ann's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Myers and the team in the CCU, as well as Dr. Garcia and nurses Kelvin, Jessica, Matthew, and Nicole in the Rehab Unit for their compassionate and exceptional care.

Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in remembrance at Martyn Funeral Home (North Bay) on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at The Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Saturday, August 9 at 10:00 a.m.

Donations in her honour can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or The Pro Cathedral.

Her endless love and compassion will be carried in our hearts forever.
