Six Battalion players in coaches poll while Voodoos playoffs begin Friday
The annual OHL coaches poll includes six Troops.

North Bay Battalion Captain Ethan Procyszyn tied for tops in ‘best defensive forward’, was second in ‘best on faceoffs’, third in ‘best penalty killer ‘ and tied for third in ‘hardest shot’.
Jack Lisson was second in ‘most improved player’ and ‘best shootout goaltender’, Lirim Amidovski was second as ‘hardest worker’ and Cam Warren tied for second as ‘best skater’.

Bronson Ride finished third in ‘best defensive defenceman’ and Nick Wellenreiter was third as ‘best shootout shooter’.
You can see why they’re being recognized Thursday night when North Bay entertains Brampton. Game time at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens is 7 pm.
The Troops also visit Brantford Friday night and are home to Sudbury on Sunday afternoon.

The NOJHL playoffs begin Friday night for the Powassan Voodoos, as they host the Soo Eagles for game one of their quarterfinal series.
Game two goes Saturday night, also at the Sportsplex.
Both games begin at 7 pm.
Meantime, the Voodoos will have another opponent next season.
The NOJHL has announced the Elliot Lake Vikings franchise is being reinstated immediately, and hits this ice for the 2026-27 season, coinciding with the scheduled reopening of their arena this summer.
The team took a leave of absence because of the arena’s lengthy closure for repairs and renovations, which the league says is nearing completion.
“With Elliot Lake having a long and storied history in the NOJHL, we look forward to welcoming the Vikings back to the ice next season,” says League Commissioner Robert Mazzuca.
Vikings team president Jef Jarmovitch says this moment represents more than just the return of Junior A hockey to Elliot Lake.
“It marks a renewed commitment to our community, our fans, and the proud hockey tradition that has long been part of this city’s identity,” he says.
