SPORTS HALL OF FAME LAUNCHES THE “BEST OF 100”

The North Bay Sports Hall of Fame in partnership with the City of North Bay 100th anniversary committee is pleased to make the first of four announcements identifying the “best of”. In 2000 as part of the 75th anniversary of the City of North Bay, the Hall initiated a program to identify the top 10 male and female athletes, the top 20 builders and the top 10 teams.
“We felt it was appropriate to carry out a similar exercise for the 100th anniversary of the city”, stated Board Chair Tim Lowe. “A lot has been accomplished in sport over the past 25 years and as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations, we wanted to recognize the accomplishments of those athletes, builders and teams.”
Committee Chair Dave Saad outlined the process for selection. “While our emphasis was on the last 25 years, our committee members also looked beyond the last 25 years. Accomplishments at the professional level and on the world stage have become more prevalent during the last 25 years. The people you will see on the lists, through their accomplishments, have brought fame and recognition to, not only themselves, but to our city has well and we are most proud to recognized what they have been able to do.”
Today the committee is pleased to present the top 15 male athletes.
