Sundridge Centennial Public School hosting ‘Trunk or Treat’ again
Trunk or Treat is back at Sundridge Centennial Public School.
The school is once again opening its doors and parking lot on Halloween night for trick-or-treaters from the town and surrounding area.
Rural community members are invited to fill the trunks of their cars with Halloween candy to give out at the school while visitors can also warm up, use the restroom, enjoy hot chocolate, and trick-or-treat in one convenient location.
“Many of our rural community members do not get to experience trick-or-treaters,” says Principal Jill Cooper. “They want to show support and enjoy seeing the young community members dressed up, excitedly enjoying the evening.”
She adds Trunk or Treat provides an opportunity to connect community members and makes for a safe and enjoyable evening for everyone.
“Last year we had 10 businesses and five families join us at the school to hand out treats to local kids,” Cooper says. “This year, we are expecting to see 14 community providers, and even more of our rural community members return to enhance the experience.”
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, Cooper says the entire event can also be moved into the school gym and hallways.
Those interested in taking part are asked to contact the school (Phone: 705-472-5101 ext. 8023 or email: jill.cooper@nearnorthschools.ca) by Oct. 28.
They’re also asked to follow the school’s food allergy policies and not bring treats with any nuts/peanut butter in them.
