Suspect Assaults Peace Officer, Police Officer injured
The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) has arrested a suspect in connection with a recent break and enter at a local financial institution following an incident that resulted in an officer being taken to hospital.
On March 8, the NBPS requested the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a break and enter at a local financial institution. During the course of the investigation, officers located the suspect, in the area of Main Street East and John Street. When officers attempted to arrest the individual, on March 10, the suspect fled on foot and resisted arrest. A struggle ensued, resulting in one officer being transported to hospital for assessment.
A subsequent search located an edged weapon and 2 grams of fentanyl.
The accused, Steven Forbes, 48-year-old, male, of, North Bay Ontario, has been charged with:
- Assault Peace Officer - Cause Bodily Harm
- Resist Peace Officer
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance
- Break, Enter a Place with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
- Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
A second suspect involved in the break and enter at the financial institution has not yet been identified and remains outstanding. Anyone with information that could help identify this person is asked to contact NBPS at 705-497-5555, select option 5 to speak with an officer.
