Territory Without Municipal Organization Elections
The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) has launched its webpage calling for nominations for the Territory Without Municipal Organization (TWOMO) Elections.
The TWOMO member is one of 12 representatives who will form part of the DNSSAB Board. The TWOMO election will be held on October 26, 2026.
Nominations are now open for the following area, and nominations will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026:
• 1 member represents Area 7 representing the following geographic areas: Nipissing Unorganized North Part and Nipissing Unorganized South Part, including the communities of Balsam Creek, Eldee, Jocko, Mulock, Redbridge, Songis, Thorne, Tomiko, Tilden Lake, Acanthus, Achray, Brent, Canoe Lake, Coristine, Daventry, Government Park, Kilrush, Kiosk, Lake Traverse, Mink Lake, Odenback, Radiant, and Stuart, as well as the geographic townships of La Salle, Mulock, Osborne, Stewart, Gladman, Anglin, Ballantyne, Barron, Biggar, Bishop, Boulter, Bower, Boyd, Bronson, Butt, Canisbay, Clancy, Deacon, Devine, Dickson, Edgar, Finlayson, Fitzgerald, Freswick, Guthrie, Hunter, Lauder, Lister, Master, McCraney, McLaughlin, Niven, Osler, Paxton, Peck, Pentland, Preston, Sproule, Stratton, White, and Wilkes. One member shall be selected by the residents of that territory to represent Area 7.
If you are a qualified elector for the TWOMO Election, then you are eligible to be elected to the Board. There are some legislated conditions under which you could be disqualified from being a candidate.
If you are interested in being a candidate, please see DNSSAB’s TWOMO Election webpage. A person is eligible to be a DSSAB member representing a Territory Without Municipal Organization if they are:
• a Canadian citizen.
• at least 18 years of age.
• a permanent resident of the territory without municipal organization; or
• an owner or tenant of property in the territory without municipal organization, or • the spouse or partner of an owner or tenant of property in the territory without municipal organization.
For 2026’s TWOMO Election, DNSSAB will use a vote-by-mail process. This means that each elector will receive, by mail, a ballot, an inner ballot envelope, a voter qualification declaration, and a prepaid business reply envelope.
About DNSSAB: The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) is the service delivery agency for essential human services to the residents of the Nipissing District. These include the Coordinated Services of Ontario Works, Housing Services and Homelessness Services, Children’s Services, and Paramedic Services. The jurisdiction of the DNSSAB covers a population of about 85,000 people, spread out over 17,000 square kilometres, 11 municipalities, two First Nations, and two unorganized areas – Nipissing North and Nipissing South.
The Board is made up of 11 municipal councillors and one elected representative for the Townships Without Municipal Organization. The Board members exercise powers, duties and responsibilities relating to the delivery of human services, while respecting the DSSAB Act and the Board’s Procedural By-Laws and governance model.
