Training exercise brings military aircraft to the North Bay area

The military says area residents may notice an increase in air traffic from June 2-13, including Alpha Jets and Learjets.

Officials say it’s part of Exercise HYDRA ANVIL.

They say the flights are supporting collective training and will mainly take place during the day. However, some flights may wrap up later at night on Monday, Tuesday and next Monday, June 9.

“22 Wing is thankful for the support and understanding of area residents and community members during this important training opportunity,” states a release.

They aren’t the only military aircraft coming to the area this week.

Armed Forces Day on Wednesday includes the CF-18 demo team, an American F-16, the Skyhawks parachute team and a Hercules aircraft.
