Two area hospitals receiving $4.7 million from province
More than $4.7 million in provincial funding is supporting area health care.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced the bulk of the money is for operational funding, with $3.7 million for the North Bay Regional Health Centre and about $390,000 for Mattawa General Hospital.
Both hospitals and the Canadian Mental Health Association North Bay and District also receive funding for infrastructure upgrades.
“Today’s additional $4.7 million investment will enable our local health facilities to provide high-quality care and address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in our community,” says Fedeli.
Paul Heinrich, NBRHC President and CEO says the money will help strengthen the centre’s capacity to respond to growing patient needs.
“Combined with ongoing investments in community-based services and system-wide partnerships, these resources will support our efforts to improve patient flow, enhance access to care, and deliver the best possible experience for the patients and families we serve,” he says.
This funding is part of the province’s budgeted $1.1 billion investment in the hospital sector.
