UPDATE: The tornado warning was lifted shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Environment Canada has issued a tornado warning for the West Nipissing area.
The agency says meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms that is possibly producing a tornado, with damaging winds, large hail and intense rainfall also possible.

Officials say it’s located near Temagami River Provincial Park, moving southeast at 70km/h.
Locations in the path also include Marten River and Marten River Provincial Park.
Officials say it’s a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.
“Take cover immediately in a basement, interior room, or a sturdy shelter when threatening weather approaches,” reads the warning. “If no shelter is available, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. If you are out on the water when threatening weather approaches, return to shore and seek shelter, if possible. Otherwise, move away from the path of the tornado to escape. Wear your lifejacket, lie face down and protect your head.”
If threatening weather approaches you’re being asked to take cover immediately.
The agency says tornado warnings are issued when a thunderstorm is producing or is likely to produce a tornado.
