Updating plans to fire up Engine 503

Updating plans to fire up Engine 503

By Richard Coffin

More information on efforts to bring steam rail travel back to the region is on the way.

The Nipissing Railway Historical Society is hosting a public meeting Thursday night at the North Bay Museum.

Officials say they’ll give an update on where the Steam Tourist Train/Fire Up 503 project stands, projected timelines and opportunities for community involvement.

The session runs from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

In early 2024, the society announced they were looking to restore and rebuild Engine 503 and return it to service as a heritage rail attraction.
