Voodoos add veteran Timmins area forward

The Voodoos added some more experience to the forward group signing 2005 birth year forward Patrice Lafontaine, the club announced on Monday.
The left hand shot forward spent last season playing in the EOJHL for the Embrun Panthers while attending college where he had 3 points in 10 games. The year prior in 2023-24, Lafontaine netted 16 goals and added 17 assists for 33 points in 50 games with the Iroquois Falls Storm of the NOJHL.
"I'm really excited to sign with a great organization, that have a great fan base and a good coaching staff in place,” said Lafontaine. “I'm looking forward to having a good season in Powassan." Lafontaine believes his responsible two-way play will benefit the Voodoos in 2025-26.
"I believe I can help this team with an high offensive skillset, great hockey IQ and good hands around the offensive net,” said the Timmins product. “I can also bring good offence to the powerplay, and I am a responsible defensive player in our defensive zone. "
Voodoos GM Chris Dawson feels Lafontaine is a good fit. “Patrice is from a good family, he has a solid skill set and his experience and willingness to play a 200 foot name should make him fit in well what coach Goulet wants to do this season,” said Dawson.
Lafontaine, whose brother Phil has signed with the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers, will join his younger brother in North Bay July 5 and 6 for the Voodoos Summer Prospects camp at Pete Palangio arena.
