Woodhouse, Linda (née Merleau)

September 24th, 1943 – Tuesday June 17th, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Woodhouse, who departed this life suddenly on Tuesday June 17th, 2025, at her home in North Bay, Ont.
Linda was born on September 24th, 1943, in Toronto, Ont. to Patrick Alexander Merleau and Anne Charlotte Foord. She spent the first 20 years of her life in Willowdale, Ontario. Upon graduation from Teachers College around 1965 she married her love Allan Woodhouse (deceased) and they both worked in education for several years in Toronto then Rankin Inlet (NWT). Following this, they spent several years in Cranbrook BC before moving back up north to Iqaluit where they finished off their working career managing the Frobisher Inn and the stationary store. Upon retirement she moved to North Bay to be close to family and was deeply committed to her great niece and nephews. For sixteen years she proceeded to travel to exotic places such as the Galapagos Islands, Panama Canal, Mexico, Greece, Netherlands, and numerous states and all provinces in Canada, with her travel companion Denise.
Linda Woodhouse is survived by her only brother Michael Merleau, her nieces and nephew, Christine Golden (Jim), David Merleau (Hannah) and Natasha Merleau-Donnelly. She also leaves behind her cherished great niece Etta-Rose Naiman Merleau and great nephews Wil and Griffin Golden. She will be sadly missed by her cousin Suzanne Lomas (Bryan), sister-in-law Nancy, Dianne, and Joy and close friends Daryl and Barb.
She was known for her big heart, friendly nature and generous attitude to all. She joined and served on several senior committees and clubs throughout her time in North Bay, where she made many new friends. Linda always cherished each moment and lived life to the fullest. In fact, she spent the weekend before her passing at Griffins ball hockey tournament in Callander and loved every moment.
As per her wishes she has been cremated and her ashes will be spread in a happy and peaceful place, at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of North Bay or the North Bay Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home.
