YIPI Summer Students Make an Impact with North Bay Police Service

The North Bay Police Service is proud to announce Naomi and Morgan as this year’s participants in the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI).

Running from July 7 to August 29, 2025, the YIPI program is a paid student employment opportunity delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. The initiative offers youth aged 15 to 18 meaningful work experience within the policing environment while empowering them to become leaders in their communities.

Throughout the summer, Naomi and Morgan will be involved in a variety of initiatives including the Lock It or Lose It Campaign, the SCRAM program, and community events such as the Bike Rodeo. They’ll also gain insight into the many aspects of policing and develop professional skills for future academic and career pursuits.

Naomi is a Grade 10 honours student at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall. She applied to the YIPI program because of her passion for helping others:

“I wanted to join YIPI because I want to give back to the community and learn how I can support people in need. This experience will help me prepare for my future goal of becoming a social worker.”

Morgan, a recent graduate of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, will be entering the Police Foundations program in North Bay this fall.

“This is a great opportunity for me to learn more about policing first-hand before starting college. I’m excited to work with officers, support community programs, and build skills that will help me in my future career.”

North Bay Police A/Deputy Chief Warner praised the program and welcomed this year’s students:

“The YIPI program is an investment in the next generation of leaders. It helps students explore career paths, gain life experience, and become ambassadors of change in their communities. We’re proud to have Naomi and Morgan with us this summer and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make.”

The Youth in Policing Initiative has been run in collaboration with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services since 2009, with many past students going on to pursue successful careers in policing, social services, and community engagement
