Community and Recreation Centre naming rights up for grabs

By Richard Coffin

$50,000 a year is what it’ll cost for naming rights on North Bay’s new Community and Recreation Centre.

One of the country’s first carbon net zero recreation facilities is scheduled to be complete on Aug. 12 and the city is accepting naming rights submissions for various components.

The sponsorship agreement would be for five years, plus an option to extend for another five.

“Expected to welcome tens of thousands of residents and visitors annually, the facility provides sponsors with long-term visibility while supporting a community asset focused on active living, accessibility, and environmental sustainability,” states a release.

Naming one of the two ice pads is $25,000 a year.

At $15,000 each are the walking/running track, the community meeting room and the accessible elevator.

A dozen dressing rooms are also available to be named, with the cost being $5,000 a year for each of them.

The Request for Quotations has been open since May 22 with two bid takers so far.

The deadline is next Tuesday, June 9 at 1 pm.

More information and online submissions can be made on the city’s bids and tenders website.
