Countdown on to outdoor market season
The North Bay Farmers’ Market returns outdoors this weekend.
They’ll be set up at 100 Ferguson Street from 9 am to 1:30 pm for the first outdoor market of the year.
A huge list of this year’s vendors is posted on social media, and includes everything from local produce, baked goods, meats, artisan products, handcrafted items, and more.

“New, young farmers this year, which is interesting to see,” he says. “I think it’s great that we have some replacements and we want to grow as many farmers as we can at the market.”
The Wednesday markets are also returning this year, but a bit later than before.
“June 10 for this year,” says Deschatelets. “It’s a trial.”
Along with the vendors, there’s entertainment at the market too.
Back on the farm, Deschatelets says they got into the ground earlier this year than last year.
“Even though we had this big winter water really penetrated the soil quicker than we thought,” he says. “I think the frost was less deep this year because of all the snow we had. Good insulation. Things are actually in good shape.”
The early prediction for the start of strawberry season is July 1.
